Fabrizio Romano: Joaquin Correa wants to stay in Italy, nothing advanced with Everton

Reported Everton target Joaquin Correa wants to stay in Italy this summer amid interest from Inter Milan, according to Lazio director Igli Tare.

Renowned Italian transfer guru Fabrizio Romano delivered a major update on Everton’s pursuit of the 27-year-old Argentine on Saturday evening [21/08/21].

He detailed Sky quotes from Tare on his personal Twitter profile.

Everton

Tare said: “Joaquin Correa wants to leave Lazio. There’s a possibility with Inter, let’s see what happens in the negotiations – it’s up to Inter now.”

Tare also confirmed nothing is advanced with Everton, adding: “Correa wants to stay in Italy.”

Move on

Reports on Everton’s pursuit of Correa have steadily been growing over the last couple of weeks, reaching fever-pitch in the last few days.

However, it looks like we can finally kiss goodbye to any thoughts of signing him from Lazio.

Tare has well and truly put the cards on the table, and that suggests Everton are no longer in the race.

Usually, club chiefs refuse to discount others from entering into the race for their player as it tends to drive up the price and ensure the main contenders ramp up their pursuit.

However, Tare has pretty much confirmed that it’s Inter or nowhere for Correa.

It’s hard to blame Correa – Inter are reigning Serie A champions and will be playing in the Champions League, while he wouldn’t have to uproot to a different country.

Furthermore, Everton are not playing in any European competition this season as the Blues look to adapt to life under Rafa Benitez.

Onto the next one.
