Richard Keys and Andry Gray demand James Rodriguez Everton exit

Andy Gray and Richard Keys have urged Everton to sell James Rodriguez following his comments ahead of Saturday’s clash with Leeds United.

The Colombia playmaker courted controversy earlier this week after confessing to his Twitch account [19/08/21] that he was unaware of who Everton were playing on the weekend.

Speaking before Everton’s 2-2 draw at Elland Road on Saturday afternoon, Keys and Gray hit out at the 30-year-old in a video relayed on the beIN SPORTS Twitter account.

Everton

“Never mind ‘casts doubts’, he shouldn’t have an Everton future,” ex-Everton striker Gray said.

“I’m staggered.”

Keys replied: “If he did, then he shouldn’t after that. My problem with him all along was, I said to you last season, if he was a good player, a really good player, he wouldn’t have been at Everton.

“He was on a plane going to Colombia when Everton played at Tottenham on the last game of last season.”

Gray: “My judgement was perhaps clouded by the manager who brought him in [Carlo Ancelotti].”

Public enemy number one

Rodriguez certainly did himself no favours with his comments this week.

It may have been an innocent, momentary lapse in concentration while he was on a live stream to thousands of adoring fans.

But, at his age, he should probably be more aware of his comments and how they may be construed as him not caring about the club.

It seems inevitable that he will leave before the end of transfer deadline day this month, and it’s a real shame to see the way his time on Merseyside has soured after a scintillating start to life at Goodison Park last year.

Pundits and fans have come out in force to condemn the Colombian this week, and his unhappy Blues spell looks to be drawing to a close in dramatic fashion.

In other Everton news, the Blues are in talks to sign this title-winning forward, bid lined up for Anfield equaliser hero.
