Ben Godfrey reacts to Demarai Gray’s goal celebration against Leeds
Demarai Gray scored his first official goal for Everton during the 2-2 draw against Leeds at Elland Road on Saturday, and he was more than delighted.
The Toffees attacking midfielder did not have a good celebration to match his fine strike, though, making a mess of his attempted knee slide.
Ben Godfrey could not help but laugh at the scenario, taking to his personal Instagram stories to post: “Worst knee slide I have ever seen”
Hilarious
Gray was beyond elated to be back among the goals in the Premier League, and we cannot blame him for letting his emotions getting the better of his sliding technique.
Thankfully, he did not hurt his knee during the celebration, and will hopefully get the next one right.
The Toffees attacker has scored just 23 career goals since making his debut as a 17-year-old in October 2013 while with Birmingham City, and we really should not be expecting a perfect celebration from someone who has not found the back of the net that much.
Gray needs to get his routine celebration and perfect it, and Godfrey will be waiting for the next one.
The £1.5million spent on him could end up being a bargain if he keeps putting in a similar performance like the one we saw against Marcelo Bielsa’s side.
He definitely has the talent to become a regular top performer, and Everton fans will hope he can deliver every other week.
