Everton interested in signing Chelsea centre-back Malang Sarr
Everton have joined the race to sign Chelsea centre-back Malang Sarr before the summer ends, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.
The Frenchman is available on loan again after spending last season on loan at Porto, and the likes of Bologna and Eintracht Frankfurt are also keen on him.
The Italian journalist claimed on his website that the representatives of the 22-year-old and Bologna have a meeting scheduled for Monday in order to find an agreement over his high salary, with competition stiff for his signature.
Smart move
Chelsea signed Sarr as a free agent last summer after he left Nice, and director Marina Granovskaia said the opportunity to sign the “tremendous prospect” was one they could not miss [BBC].
However, he is yet to break into their star-studded squad yet, and that could be an advantage for us.
With four years still left on his deal, Everton will most likely be looking at a loan deal, and it could be a smart move.
We need to strengthen at the back, and we are offering him the chance to taste Premier League action and show his parent club what he is capable of doing.
While Bologna are struggling to afford his wages, that is not likely to be an issue for the Toffees.
Manager Rafa Benitez has been struggling to get in major signings due to the need for us to adhere to Financial Fair Play rules, and a loan deal would be perfect for the Spaniard in a bid to improve his defensive options.
Whether the Stamford Bridge outfit and the player would be keen to join us remains to be seen, but it is a move that could end up benefitting all parties involved.
