Everton must table higher offer for Daniel Jebbison

Everton had an initial offer for Sheffield United forward Daniel Jebbison turned down, but that shouldn’t derail their pursuit.

According to The Athletic, a £5million bid for the 18-year-old was rejected by the Blades, but the Toffees retain an interest and are unlikely to give up in their quest to sign the striker.

Recently, The Liverpool Echo even reported that Rafa Benitez was studying tapes of the player, which suggests that there is serious interest all across the board for the Canadian.

We’ve currently got Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison as our strikers, but they’re not gonna be at their peak or even at the club forever, and it is wise for the hierarchy to sort out their long-term replacements.

Both relatively young players should have at least another four or five years at their very best provided they stay on Merseyside and then they would need replacing.

In Jebbison, we can sign a player who’s only 18, but is rated so highly that even £5million wasn’t enough to prise him away from the Championship.

He’s a solid attacking player who’s extremely composed in front of goal. Last season, he became the youngest ever player to score in the Premier League and did so on his first start in the English top flight.

Despite the Blades’ struggles, he appeared to be a breath of fresh air whenever he played, which is why tabling a bid closer to the £10million mark will not be a gamble.

He would come in with an extremely high resale value and if he continues progressing at the same rate, he could easily be worth five or six times that amount in three seasons.

Benitez isn’t the only one impressed by him as he has been labelled as “fantastic” by former Manchester City defender Micah Richards [Sky Sports via YorkshireLive 16/05/2021].

If not this summer, there’s certainly going to be a big club that comes in for him next year, especially if the Blades fail to secure promotion.

We cannot afford to let this one slip out of our hands and should do everything we can to sign him in the next week.

Jebbison is a striker who could lead the line for us in a couple of years and go on to become a mainstay in our team for the next decade.

Loaning him back to Sheffield United for a season may tempt them into getting into negotiations for him and possibly settling for a fee closer to where he’s valued by our board.
