Tottenham beat Everton in race to sign Metz ace Pape Sarr
Everton have failed in their pursuit of Metz midfielder Pape Sarr with Tottenham agreeing a deal to sign him, according to the Daily Mail.
The newspaper reports that Everton, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Chelsea were also keen on signing the 18-year-old Senegal international, who’s now set to join Tottenham before being loaned back to Metz for the 2021/22 season.
It is understood that Spurs are paying £14.5million plus add-ons and will undergo a medical with the London club before signing a six-year deal and watching their Premier League clash with Watford on Saturday.

Cross him off the list
It would be fair to say that it’s been a frustrating summer for Evertonians.
Carlo Ancelotti’s exit was followed by a protracted search for a new manager, which concluded in controversial fashion with ex-Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez was hired as the Italian’s successor.
Since then, we’ve signed two back-up goalkeepers, Andros Townsend on a free and ex-Leicester attacker Demarai Gray for less than £2million.
It’s not exciting, is it?
While Benitez has shown signs that he’s able to get something out of Townsend and Gray, they are hardly signings who will left this club up to the next level after last season ended in such a disappointing fashion.
Sarr is a good young central midfielder who’s only 18-years-old but is already a fully-fledged Ligue 1 player and international for Senegal.
He’ll probably be a good player for Spurs in the future and it’s a shame that we’ve been held back by profit and sustainability rules this summer.
But, then again, it will hopefully make Farhad Moshiri think twice before throwing wads of cash at problems in the squad.
In other Everton news, the Blues have granted this senior player permission to speak to other clubs.
