Nathan Patterson left out of Rangers’ squad as Everton continue to be linked

Everton target Nathan Patterson was left out of Rangers’ squad for the Old Firm derby this afternoon.

The Gers have confirmed that Patterson was forced to self-isolate, but given the Toffees’ interest in the 19-year-old, the speculation over his future will no doubt increase after he missed the Old Firm [Liverpool Echo].

Everton have already had a £5million bid rejected for Patterson, but until the transfer window slams shut on Tuesday, the deal could still happen.

However, if the 19-year-old genuinely had to miss the game due to self-isolation that could scupper Everton’s move for him.

Patterson, though, did play on Thursday against Alashkert, so it seems odd that he was missing for the Old Firm.

Gerrard laughed at the Toffees’ initial bid for Patterson, but with him missing this game, we would expect that the speculation over his future will only increase [Daily Record].

Everton do want a right-back, and Patterson has been described as “brilliant” by Josh McPake [Daily Record].

So, it will be interesting to see if Patterson has actually had to self-isolate or if he has been kept back by Rangers because of Everton’s interest in the right-back.

In other Everton news, the Toffees are in line for a cash boost from major transfer deal.
