Everton table new £8million bid for Nathan Patterson

Everton have tabled a new bid worth £8million for Rangers defender Nathan Patterson, according to the Scottish Daily Mail.

The newspaper have reported on their website that the new offer has been kicked back by Steven Gerrard and his side.

Patterson missed Sunday’s Old Firm win over Celtic due to COVID-19, and it is suggested that could hamper any potential move.

It is also suggested that a third bid is being prepared.

Patterson has been told to stay at home until midweek at the earliest, meaning there is no possible way to complete a move or medical.

The Daily Mail suggest that the young defensive sensation is all but certain to stay at Ibrox, making this interest quite unnecessary.

Marcel Brands and his team have been hunting for a long-term replacement for Seamus Coleman, so if even it didn’t happen during this window, this is one to watch.

January?

With Coleman starting the season in great form and Ben Godfrey able to play there if needed, this could be one to re-visit in January.

Patterson and his Rangers future is currently protected by the self-isolation period, and that makes this one impossible.

The expected third bid could be saved for January by the Toffees, who will want to test the resolve of the Scottish champions as the season plays on.

Gerrard loves the young right-back, but with James Tavernier ahead of him, a bid pay-day of above £10million may be more than enough to secure the deal.

Patterson may not be going anywhere anytime soon, but this is certainly one to watch as the year progresses.
