Arturo Vidal slams Everton forward Richarlison after Brazil beat Chile

Everton forward Richarlison has been called a “clown” by Arturo Vidal after Brazil’s 1-0 win over Chile in the early hours of Friday morning.

The two nations met in the latest round of World Cup qualifiers in a match that took place in Santiago de Chile.

Inter Milan midfielder Vidal, 34, played the entire game while Richarlison was spared international duty this month after an arduous summer.

But that didn’t stop Vidal, who has played for the likes of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Juventus during an illustrious career, targeting the 24-year-old Blues forward on his personal Instagram story.

Posting an image of Richarlison with a clown emoji covering his face, Vidal wrote: “And who knows this clown?”

Richarlison replied with a meme on his own Instagram story, and it appears he may have been the instigator in the social media war, with Planeta do Futebol writing on Twitter that Richarlison had posted an “old print of Vidal to provoke the Chilean defensive midfielder”.

Always at it

Richarlison is well-known for his mischievousness at Everton and social media posts online.

He’s never shy to make a joke or wind someone up, so it’s no surprise to see him trade insults with Vidal on Instagram.

There’s obviously history between the pair dating back from previous internationals.

Brazil edged out Chile 1-0 in July to knock them out of the Copa America tournament at the quarter-final stage.

Richarlison and Vidal both started in that ill-tempered fixture, and it appears that something may have gone on during or after that game, with neither party letting it go.

Luckily for Everton, Vidal was unable to exact any revenge on Richarlison on the pitch.
