Kevin Campbell: Demarai Gray-Everton deal was bargain of the summer
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has labelled Demarai Gray moving to Everton as the bargain of the summer window.
The Toffees brought in the winger for under £2million, as well as Andros Townsend, but ended up missing out on Luis Diaz.
Campbell believes that given the success of the Blues so far, it would have been easy to bring Diaz to Merseyside, and they simply tried their luck.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “I think it was more of ‘we’ll go for him and see’ because if the club really wanted him they would have pushed.
“Considering the start they have made, they’ve got wingers and have brought in two players who have done well – Demarai Gray is the bargain of the season so far.”
Unfortunate?
Everton didn’t appear to push too hard for Diaz.
The deal with Porto appeared to rely massively on James Rodriguez going the other way, and no one knows the next move of the Colombian.
Benitez has some decisions to make between now and January, and if the exit is the only possible outcome, we could see the move come around again.
There could be another move for Diaz then, but right now, Gray is the one to watch throughout the Premier League, nevermind just here.
It has been a sensational start to life at Goodison Park, but he needs to push on and continue doing exactly that.
