Everton set to save huge amount of money on wages next summer

Everton could be set for a huge cash boost next summer and save millions in wages when the contracts of expensive first-team players expire.

The Liverpool Echo report that nine first-team and fringe players’ contracts are set to expire next summer, including the likes of James Rodriguez and Fabian Delph.

They claim that should all of these players leave; the Toffees could save millions in wages that could then be used to boost Rafael Benitez’s squad.

Good news for the Toffees.

Rodriguez is on over £200,000 per week [Liverpool Echo] with Delph and Cenk Tosun also on high wages. So you would have to expect that Everton could save a massive chunk alone just on those three.

It is highly unlikely that Rodriguez will be extending his contract with the player said to be desperate to leave, while Delph and Tosun have both failed to make an impact while at Everton.

Therefore, when these players finally leave, Benitez should receive a nice cash boost because he was severely restricted in what he could do in the last transfer window.

The Spaniard was limited to a small amount of spending and was made to suffer for mistakes that the Toffees made in the past, but next summer, he should be granted some more freedom when these players move on.
