Andros Townsend is excited to play alongside Salomon Rondon at Everton

Everton summer signing Andros Townsend has revealed that he is excited to play with Salomon Rondon.

Speaking to the Liverpool Echo, the 30-year-old revealed that he has always admired the big striker, and he can’t wait to try and provide him with some crosses.

On deadline day, Rondon arrived at Goodison Park to reunite with Rafael Benitez, who worked with the Spaniard at Newcastle United like Townsend.

Townsend said: “I’ve played against him many times and he’s a very physical player, very strong, likes the physical side of it, likes to get into a confrontation with defenders and he can hold up the ball well, so that will be a great addition to the squad.

“Whether it be playing with Dom upfront or coming off the bench, however, the manager sees it, he’s definitely going to be a plus for a player like myself who does like to cross into the box.”

Townsend and Rondon to cause problems?

Rondon is a man who thrives off crosses and has been described as “unbelievable” by Jim White [talkSPORT].

Townsend is a man who is known for delivering good quality into the box. So, this could definitely become a fruitful partnership for the Toffees going forward.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin also loves crosses and is fantastic in the air, so if you partner him and Rondon and get Townsend to whip balls into the box, then it is hard to see how many defences in the Premier League could cope.

Both Townsend and Rondon were at Newcastle under Benitez at different times, but both thrived under the Spaniard on Tyneside, and it will be exciting to see what the pair can do together.

This is a brilliant interview with Townsend, who discusses a whole range of topics, and we recommend any Everton fan to check it out.

He comes across brilliantly, and the Toffees clearly have picked up a player who has the right attitude to play for Everton.

In other Everton news, Rafael Benitez is keen to avoid a frustrating situation.
