Everton have an agreement in place for James Rodriguez to depart today

Everton have a verbal agreement with Istanbul Basaksehir for James Rodriguez to depart the club today, but there is no deal between the club and the player with the Colombian unconvinced about the move.

Win Sports TV journalist Pipe Sierra revealed this news on his personal Twitter account, and it looks as if the 30-year-old will be staying at Goodison Park instead of moving to Turkey.

It seems as if the Toffees had even agreed to pay most of the Colombian’s wages, but the player doesn’t fancy the move, and it appears as if he will be staying on Merseyside.

Rodriguez is holding himself back.

A move to Turkey might not be the big move away that the 30-year-old is hoping for, but with the Toffees willing to pay a lot of his salary, you would have thought that he might have decided to move on.

However, the player appears reluctant to go and play in Turkey when he should view this is as an opportunity to revive his career, which has stalled with the Toffees.

We would hope that the Colombian would have jumped at this chance to play regular football.

However, that doesn’t appear to be the case, and with the Turkish transfer window closing today, things don’t look great for the Toffees’ hope of getting him out of the door.

Instead of leaving, the attacking midfielder is expected to report for training today, and we can’t see him going anywhere until at least January [Liverpool Echo].

In other Everton news, one player is expected back in training today despite talk of him moving away.
