Former Everton man Nikola Vlasic discusses his time at Goodison

Former Everton player Nikola Vlasic has been discussing his time at Goodison Park in a recent interview.

Speaking to the Daily Star, the 23-year-old West Ham midfielder revealed his thoughts on why his move to the Toffees in 2017 didn’t work out.

The Croatian international made just 19 appearances for Everton before he moved to CSKA Moscow initially on loan.

Now, he is back in the Premier League and has a point to prove.

He said: “Do I have a point to prove? Yeah, I feel that.

“When I went to Everton, I was very young, 19 years old, so I didn’t have too many chances there. I think now it’s a different situation.

“I was a young player at Everton. Maybe that was the problem, but I remember I was good at training. Maybe I should have had more chances.

“I wanted to leave the club to have more minutes, and it helped me to be in Russia at CSKA.”

Vlasic is back with a point to prove.

The Toffees signed the then 19-year-old in the summer of 2017 in the same transfer window in which Davy Klaassen and Wayne Rooney also joined the club.

This meant that Vlasic was limited to very little game time, and in the end, he looked like a poor signing.

However, he clearly believes that he wasn’t handed a fair opportunity, and he is ready to prove Everton wrong while he is with the Irons.

Ultimately, Vlasic looked to be a player who was the victim of a poor recruitment strategy, and there were too many players at Goodison who played in the same positions as he did.

We hope that he does well with the Hammers apart from in the games against the Toffees this season.

Vlasic is a player who could have thrived at Goodison, but he was never really given a chance to shine, and now he is back with a point to prove.
