Andy Hinchcliffe slams Everton defender Lucas Digne after ‘nightmare’ v Aston Villa
Andy Hinchcliffe was severely critical of Everton defender Lucas Digne after his second-half display in their 3-0 loss against Aston Villa on Saturday.
Digne, 28, was making his fifth Premier League start of the season at Villa Park, and he would have been content with his first-half efforts.
However, it was his own goal that doubled Villa’s lead in the 69th minute, just three minutes after Matty Cash had opened the scoring.

Leon Bailey then added a third in the 75th minute, and ex-Blues left-back Hinchcliffe was less than impressed with the Frenchman for his role in a couple of the goals.
“Lucas Digne is having a nightmare couple of minutes,” Hinchcliffe said on live commentary duties for Sky Sports.

Disappointing Digne
Digne has been a pillar of consistency for the Blues over the last few years, performing to a standard that most of his teammates have failed to reach.
However, his levels have noticeably dropped down of late, and Rafa Benitez will be keen to see them rise again.
With no natural left-back in reserve to add competition, the Spaniard needs Digne to be on top form.
Perhaps he can be cut some flak with the changes Benitez had to make to his defence – Jordan Pickford and Seamus Coleman both missed the trip to Villa Park – but as a seasoned international, he must do better.
It was a solid start to events for Everton, but they were pinned back in the second half and after Villa opened the scoring, there was only ever one winner.
