Everton Super Fans react to Lucas Digne’s display against Aston Villa

This is part of a regular series from our panel of Everton Super Fans. Each week, Super Fans from our Goodison News Facebook page will deliver their verdicts on the biggest talking points and news stories around Goodison Park.

Everton Super Fans have flocked to a post on the Goodison News Facebook page about the Toffees’ 3-0 defeat to Aston Villa and Lucas Digne.

The Toffees collapsed in the second half after a solid enough first half, and the Frenchman scored an own goal.

The goal wasn’t really his fault as he was trying to clear the corner away, but it still seems as if some of our Super Fans weren’t happy with his display while others defended him [Sky Sports YouTube].

Did Digne struggle?

The Frenchman didn’t play that well against Villa, but neither did many of his teammates [Liverpool Echo].

Therefore, you could say it is harsh to pick the 28-year-old out as one of the worst Toffees players.

To be honest, we just feel as if this game is one that the Toffees and Rafael Benitez should forget about.

They were missing some key players and didn’t play that badly in the first half, so we wouldn’t be too worried about this one result.

Digne didn’t play that well, but it is clear that some of our Super Fans feel that he didn’t actually deserve to be singled out for criticism, which is fair enough.

It will be intriguing to see how the Toffees bounce back on Tuesday as they look to progress in the Carabao Cup, and we would be surprised if the Toffees didn’t beat QPR and move into the next round.
