Rafael Benitez reveals update on Everton man James Rodriguez
Rafael Benitez has revealed James Rodriguez was “concerned” about his fitness and that was why he wasn’t involved against Aston Villa.
The 30-year-old was expected to leave Goodison Park over the summer, but he has stayed, and Benitez is prepared to use him.
However, it seems as if the attacking midfielder didn’t feel like he was fit enough to play against Villa, and we will now have to wait and see if the Colombian will be involved on Tuesday [Liverpool Echo].

He said: “For this game, he was a little bit concerned about his muscle.
“He was having a little problem, and we decided we have to wait, so he was not available. That’s it.”
“We will see if he’s fit for the next game, and then we will decide.”
Will we see Rodriguez soon?
Well, these comments seem to suggest that the Spaniard is willing to play the 30-year-old since he has him available.
The Colombian is an undoubtedly talented player, and even though it had seemed very likely that he would leave, he is still there, and they might as well use him.
Rodriguez arguably didn’t act that professionally during the transfer window, but fair play to Benitez for offering him an olive branch and trying to involve him in the first team [Liverpool Echo].

Hopefully, Rodriguez is willing to take this olive branch and prove to Toffees fans that he is committed to the cause if he were to be called upon.
The 30-year-old could make a huge difference to this Everton side; if he can get himself fit and play with the right attitude, then the Toffees have a dangerous player on their hands.
However, it is up to him to prove he is worthy of selection.
