Everton and Rodriguez in talks to part ways in coming days
Everton and James Rodriguez have remained in talks about parting ways despite the end of the summer transfer window in Europe.
According to El Bobble – a reliable Toffees insider followed by The Times journalist Paul Joyce and Kevin Ratcliffe on Twitter – the club are in discussion with a side from the United Arab Emirates, with the transfer window yet to close in the Western Asia country.
The Colombian international midfielder, 30, is not in the plans of Rafa Benitez, and an exit in the coming days appears to be on the cards.
El Bobble posted the update on their Twitter account on Sunday night.
They said: “Everton and James Rodriguez remain in talks to part ways.
“Everton are now in talks with a club from the UAE, where the transfer window has a few more days until it closes.”
Hope?
Rodriguez has not made any of Everton’s matchday squads this season, but he returned to training after the international break and fans were expecting him to be named on the bench for Saturday’s game against Aston Villa.
However, Benitez opted to leave the Colombian out of the trip to Villa Park, despite failing to name the maximum number of substitutes on the bench.
It seems both player and manager are not keen to work with each other, and it will be interesting to see whether a solution can be found in the coming days.
Benitez clearly does not have the former Real Madrid man in his plans, but he need not say it before people get the message.
Rodriguez could struggle to play much if he remains at Goodison Park till January, and with a UAE outfit keen on him, he needs to find a way to leave Merseyside.
A couple of European clubs were linked with the South American all summer, but no deal took place, and hopefully, both parties can get their wishes soon.
