James Rodriguez could be set to leave Everton permanently as Qatari club Al Rayyan are discussing a deal with the 30-year-old, according to ESPN.
It was reported earlier on Monday that the attacking midfielder was in discussions with a Middle Eastern club about a move away from Goodison Park, and it seems as if the Toffees could secure a fee for his services [Pipe Sierra].
However, the report also claims that the Toffees are also willing to accept a loan with an obligation to buy included.
Rodriguez edging towards the exit door?
After the defeat to Aston Villa, Rafael Benitez confirmed that the 30-year-old felt he wasn’t fit enough to play, and now it appears as if he could finally leave [Liverpool Echo].
This would be a good move for the club and the player because the move has fizzled out, and the Toffees have to find a way to shift his reported £10million a year salary from the wage bill.
So if this move to Qatar materialises into something and the Toffees even pocket a fee, then that would be a fantastic move for all involved.
It had looked as if Benitez was willing to play the Colombian if they couldn’t shift him, but it now appears as if he could finally leave, and the Toffees can move on.
We hope that Rodriguez completes this move because his career was going stale, and the Toffees need to free up some finances to help with FFP.
