James Rodriguez jets out for transfer talks with UAE club

Everton midfielder James Rodriguez has left England to hold transfer talks with a club in the United Arab Emirates, according to Pipe Sierra.

The WinSportsTV and W Radio Colombia journalist posted the information on his personal Twitter account late on Sunday night, claiming there will be more news on the development in the coming hours.

Rodriguez was unable to leave Goodison Park during the European summer transfer window, but business is still ongoing in Asia, with an outfit in UAE keen on him and Everton more than willing to see his back.

Sierra is one of the most popular journalists in Colombia, working for some of the biggest media outlets in the country, and he provided a lot of exclusive news during the summer.

He said: “James Rodríguez (30) travels at this time to negotiate with a club in the United Arab Emirates.

“Everton has given the green light to the agreement and the Colombian flyer will personally analyze the proposal.

“Tomorrow there will be news.”

Huge

Everton badly want the over £200,000-a-week wages Rodriguez earns off their bill, and they have been presented with what appears to be a final chance.

It is unknown whether a potential exit would be temporary or permanent, but after he could not agree terms with European sides, having him finally gone would be relieving as Rafa Benitez clearly is not enthusiastic about playing the former Real Madrid ace.

The player was left out of Saturday’s matchday squad that faced Aston Villa, and that could have been to give him a chance to travel the next day.

A loan deal would likely see the Toffees part with some of his wages, and hopefully, it is a permanent move as he is already in the final months of his contract on Merseyside.

Rodriguez and Benitez working together at Goodison Park never looked likely given their Madrid history, and it is only right if a solution can be found in the coming days.
