Jim White laments Everton cup failures in Blues fans suggestion
Jim White has lamented the failure of Everton to advance into the next round of the League Cup after Tuesday night’s penalty shoot-out defeat to QPR.
The Blues were humbled in west London after a 2-2 draw to the Championship side ended in a shoot-out failure, with Tom Davies the guilty party as the home side triumphed 8-7.
Speaking on talkSPORT [22/09/21] the following morning, White has suggested fans will be ruing their inability to progress in another cup competition.

White said: “The one thing that strikes me about Everton going out at QPR on penalties, albeit, the wait for a first domestic trophy since 1995 goes on…I mean this is Everton, if you’re an Evertonian you’re thinking ‘when is this ever, will it ever, end?'”
Everton have not lifted a major honour since the 1995 FA Cup Final, when they beat Manchester United 1-0.

Hands tied?
Previous Everton managers have been harangued by supporters for fielding weakened teams in cup competitions and focusing entirely on the Premier League.
One would suspect Rafa Benitez’s remit is similar, but it’s hard to say that he has in any way foregone the competition.
Injuries have been mounting up lately, with key stars such as Richarlison, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Jordan Pickford and Seamus Coleman all absent.
The likes of Abdoulaye Doucoure, Allan and Demarai Gray were also demoted to the bench for this game, but Andros Townsend, Lucas Digne and Ben Godfrey were all starting.
However, up against a QPR side, who named a strong team after making an impressive start to the season, it was always going to be a difficult tie.
Tuesday was a disappointment, but progress, or lack of it, in the FA Cup next year, is more likely to define Benitez.
In other Everton news, Simon Jordan has claimed the Blues are ‘another Derby’ and will need Farhad Moshiri to bail them out.
