Everton could be handed major Alessio Romagnoli boost
Everton are keen on signing AC Milan centre-back Alessio Romagnoli according to Italian media outlet Calcio Mercato Web.
A report in TEAMtalk suggests that the 26-year-old has refused to sign a new deal at the Italian club.
The Italy international’s contract expires at the end of the season and the Toffees could look to sign him in January.

If Rafa Benitez is desperate for a centre-back in the winter then Romagnoli will fit the bill perfectly.
He will also come on the cheap as the Milan outfit will be looking to get compensated in any way, shape or form rather than losing him on a free next summer.
The fact that Everton are a foreign club means that he can discuss a pre-contract deal with them and sign officially in June for free.
This would be another fact that would benefit the Toffees are Juventus and Inter Milan are also lurking and may enter the race to sign him at a later stage.
In a Forza Italian Football article in 2018, Romagnoli was referred to as “Captain Fantastic” and he has only got better since then.

Recently, The Liverpool Echo reported that Benitez did not get a centre-back in as the ones he wanted were out of their budget.
Romagnoli, on the contrary, fits right into their price range and is at an ideal age to thrive and further his aspirations of becoming a regular in the Italian national team.
He is technical, versatile and has a sharp footballing brain – something Benitez would admire the most.
It’s a perfect match and Marcel Brands must get on his phone right away and try to make this happen.
