Everton eye cut-price move to sign Sean Longstaff
Everton remain keen on signing Newcastle midfielder Sean Longstaff after failing to sign him this summer, according to The Liverpool Echo.
The report details that they believe he will be available for a cut-price fee as his contract expires at the end of the season.
The idea to swap Longstaff for Tom Davies was considered, but it was not taken forward by the Toffees as they believe his value exceeds that of the 23-year-old Newcastle midfielder.

Should consider it
Longstaff does not walk into the Everton playing eleven should Benitez continue with a 4-4-2, but he would be a decent option if a system change is on the cards.
Allan and Abdoulaye Doucoure have formed a seamless understanding as a double pivot in midfield and Longstaff could play as a free eight ahead of them.
While he may not boast phenomenal numbers in terms of chance creation, he’s got the ability to drive forward and make things happen in the final third.
His former head coach Gary Bowyer waxed his lyrical and his quotes were included in a glowing profile written in the Guardian in 2019.

He said, “He has this unbelievable knack of scoring, often from long range. He’s got a fantastic engine and fitness, and his knowledge of the game is very good. He did brilliantly for Blackpool.”
Longstaff does have the ability to produce the spectacular and bail his side out of trouble.
At 23, there are very few risks in signing him and the club must pursue his services if given the option.
