Everton Women Expert expects WSL response against Birmingham City Women
We’re delighted to welcome Peter MacFarlane, member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, as our exclusive Everton Women expert.
Everton Women will be hoping to breathe life into their 2021/22 FA WSL campaign when they face Birmingham City at Walton Hall Park on Saturday.
The Blues suffered consecutive 4-0 defeats to Manchester City and Chelsea at the start of September before the recent international break.
However, Saturday’s fixture is the perfect chance to get back on track as they face Birmingham, another side without a point so far.

Peter McFarlane, member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, is confident that the return of one player in particular could help to spark a change in fortunes.
“Going into the start of the season we knew it would be a huge challenge to face the two top teams in the league in our opening two fixtures,” he told Goodison News.
“The quality in both the Manchester City and Chelsea sides is incredible, even with players missing they can field a team of top internationals so it was always going to be tough, made harder by a number of injuries in our squad in key areas.
“However, the return of Leonie Maier this weekend is a huge boost for us. We’ve started the season without a recognised right back and the majority of the goals conceded have come from the imbalance on that side. Leonie is a proven German international player with bags of experience in the WSL with Arsenal, so I’m really excited to see her make her debut.
“It’s a huge opportunity for us to kick start our season this weekend against a Birmingham side who I think will struggle this season. With the quality we have in our team I’m confident that we can kick on and start showing what we are capable of, and there’s no better time than now, in front of our home fans at Walton Hall Park. The players will be hurting after the last two results and I’m certain we will get a response.”
