Willie Kirk delivers Everton Women’s injury update ahead of Birmingham City clash

We’re delighted to welcome Peter MacFarlane, member of the Everton Women Official Supporters Club, as our exclusive Everton Women expert.

Willie Kirk has delivered an injury update as his Everton Women’s side prepares to face Birmingham City at Walton Hall Park on Saturday.

It will be their first game since a 4-0 defeat to Chelsea on September 12, but it appears there are some fitness concerns leading up to the WSL clash.

Kirk, in a video shared on the Everton Women Twitter account, has ruled Lucy Graham out of action with a back injury, while there are others that are being kept on close watch ahead of Saturday.

Everton Women Expert Pete Macfarlane is sad to hear of Graham’s plight, but has faith in an international star to be a shining light amongst the injury doom and gloom.

“Lucy Graham has had a horrid time with injuries over the last 12 months and it’s such a shame as she is one of our leaders, the type of player that Evertonians absolutely love,” he said.

“It means, however, that it’s a big opportunity for the new players in the squad to make their mark and stake a claim for a place in our midfield.

“Aurora Galli signed from Juventus in the summer, the first Italian to play in the WSL, and she just oozes class. It may take time for her to adapt but I have every faith that her quality will shine through this season and I’m hoping to see a lot from her this weekend.

“I’m delighted to hear that Simone Magill is back in training, and will hopefully be available again in the coming weeks. Simone has been at Everton for years and knows exactly what it means to play for our great club. Her attitude, fight and desire is infectious, and it will be great to see her back in that team soon.

We have an array of attacking options now having signed Toni Duggan, Kenza Dali, Anna Anvegard and Hannah Bennison in the summer, along with Claire Emslie, Nico Sorenson and Valerie Gauvin who were brilliant for us last season. I’m sure once we hit form we will be one of the most feared teams in the league, hopefully starting this weekend!”
