Everton sent transfer warning by Benitez
Everton have been sent a transfer warning by Rafael Benitez ahead of the January transfer window.
The summer transfer window closed less than a month ago, but it seems as if the Spaniard already has an idea about what he wants to see from the Toffees in the winter window [Liverpool Echo].
Benitez wants to ensure that all of the players that the club sign want to play at Goodison Park, and he believes that this is “crucial”.

He said: “For January, we have to be ready. It’s too early to be talking about the transfer window and the ideas.
“The fans know what we need; we know what we need. It’s just to be sure that, when the time arrives, we are ready.
“The balance between top-class players, players who want to be here, and they can be important players for us during the winter – it doesn’t matter.
Players have to have the passion to fight for us.
“I think it’s crucial to have players who really want to come.”
Slight dig at Rodriguez and Kean?
The Toffees didn’t have the greatest summer transfer window as they failed to add another right-back or left-back but did manage to bring in some top players.
Crucially, they also managed to get rid of Rodriguez and Kean, which was important to ease our financial worry.
Now, to us, these comments from Benitez appear to be a slight dig at that duo, who had made it clear that they weren’t that keen on sticking around.

So, it seems as if the Toffees will be targeting players who actually want to play at Goodison and not just players who perhaps see the club as a stepping stone.
Benitez did this at Newcastle United, and we believe it is an important step and should only benefit Everton in the upcoming transfer window and beyond that [Sky Sports].
The Spaniard already clearly knows what he wants, and we would be very surprised if the Toffees don’t make at least a couple of additions in January.
In other Everton news, one reported target has broken his silence on a summer of speculation.
