Michael Ball: Nathan Patterson will be a good signing for Everton
Michael Ball backs Everton January pursuit of Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson.
The Toffees were linked with the 19-year-old this summer, but failed to match the Glasgow outfit’s valuation of the player.
Still in dire need of reinforcements in that area, they could come back with an offer that may tempt the Scottish side into selling him.

Discussing the potential move for the Scotland international, Mall told Transfer Tavern, “I think it’s good that Everton are looking north of the border and trying to be clever.
“We all like big signings, we all like the big name players but moving forward, it’s a mixture of trying to bring in players from the academy, a bit of youth from elsewhere, who can compete in every position, as well as your bigger signings and Nathan is really highly thought of at Rangers.”
Must sign him
Ben Godfrey has proven to be an able deputy to Seamus Coleman, but he is the club’s first-choice centre-back and should not play away from his position for too long.
It would leave a massive void at the heart of the defence, which is just as important as not having two quality full-backs.

On the other side, Lucas Digne is impeccable and one of the most talented players in this side.
He deserves someone, who much like him, has the ability to bomb forward for the entire 90 minutes and Patterson does exactly that.
He is rated very highly by manager Steven Gerrard. In April this year, he labelled the player as “outstanding” after he put in a good performance for the Scottish giants. [Glasgow Times]
At 19, he will not demand regular first-team minutes right away, but could be ready to become the manager’s first choice in the 2023/24 season.
