Everton might have missed their chance to sign Luis Diaz
Everton could have missed their chance to sign Luis Diaz as the 24-year-old winger continues to impress for Porto.
The Toffees were heavily linked with a move for the Porto winger in the last summer transfer window and may have signed him had James Rodriguez agreed to move the other way [Carlos Aleman].
However, it wasn’t to be, and now Barcelona are keen on recruiting the winger, which means that the Toffees could have missed their chance to sign Diaz [Marca].

The Colombian has had an electric start to the season scoring five goals and providing one assist in eight games, and it seems other clubs are sitting up and taking notice.
Diaz has been described as “excellent” by Juan Cuadrado and has started the season brilliantly [Daily Mail]. You would think he could be a fantastic addition for the Toffees if they were to return in January [Ryan Taylor].
However, if Barca are interested, then surely it will be a lot harder for the Toffees?
Yes, the La Liga giants are a total shambles at the moment, but they are still one of the biggest clubs in the world, and you would think it would be hard for Everton to persuade Diaz to move Goodison over the Camp Nou [The 18].

The only chance the Toffees might have is if they strike very early in January and make a tempting proposal to Diaz.
If they can do that, then we believe they might have a chance to sign the Colombian, but if Barcelona are genuinely interested, we don’t see how the Toffees win that transfer battle.
