Andros Townsend reveals what Cristiano Ronaldo did after Man Utd v Everton
Everton winger Andros Townsend stole the show this weekend for two reasons.
First, he scored a fantastic goal to help Everton earn a 1-1 draw against Manchester United at Old Trafford on Saturday.
And shortly after that goal, he did the unthinkable – he copied Cristiano Ronaldo’s trademark Siii celebration, and that too in front of the Portuguese.

Townsend later admitted that he didn’t mean to disrespect Ronaldo, rather he meant it as a tribute to his idol.
The Everton winger also managed to get Ronaldo’s shirt after the game. Ronaldo was visibly frustrated with the result and he rushed down the tunnel, appearing to have ignored Townsend.
The former Crystal Palace winger posted this on Instagram.

He joined Monday’s talkSPORT Breakfast and revealed what was exchanged between him and Ronaldo.
“I made it my goal that I was not leaving Old Trafford without Cristiano Ronaldo’s shirt. You saw after the final whistle, I ran straight to him, I don’t know what he was muttering but it wasn’t English.
“He was muttering in Portuguese and I asked him three or four times for his shirt and eventually he gave in and said he would give it to me inside.
“I had to wait inside the dressing room and thankfully the kit man was able to sort it for me. That shirt I am going to keep with me.”

Spectacular start
Townsend has made a spectacular start to his career at Goodison Park after joining the Toffees in the summer transfer window from Crystal Palace on a free transfer.
He was initially seen as an underwhelming signing but the 30-year-old has proved everyone wrong with goals, assists, and bundles of energy.
There are suggestions that Townsend became stale after five years at Palace and he needed a strong challenge to reignite his career.
Benitez has been able to bring the best out of him. Townsend has managed five goals and three assists in all competitions so far, while his work ethic has been really impressive.
It seems Townsend is enjoying his time at the Merseyside club and Everton fans will hope that he continues to deliver at this pace for the rest of the campaign.
