Michael Ball waxes lyrical of Everton defender Yerry Mina
Michael Ball has been full of praise for Everton defender Yerry Mina in his latest column for The Liverpool Echo.
The Everton centre-back has played in all but one of their seven Premier League games this season and has been impervious at the back.
His timing of the tackle has been inch-perfect and he’s proven to be a menace for opposing attackers.

Discussing what the Colombian brings to the table for the Toffees, Ball said, “Yerry Mina is fantastic. When he’s on form, he’s a monster. He just loves football, he’s always smiling, happy. He loves the fight, loves winning headers and loves a battle.
“Mina though, is probably our best centre half when he’s on form. In seven games, our points are the best in a long time at this stage of the season and Mina is key to that.”
Phenomenal
In Ben Godfrey’s absence at the start of the season, Mina has been the one who’s stepped up and taken charge of the defensive responsibilities for Rafa Benitez’s side.
He’s almost been infallible at the heart of this Toffees defence and has proven a number of doubters wrong.

Last season, he was viewed as someone who always had an error in him, but this term, he seems as focused as ever.
Possibly, the change in manager has benefited him and he wants to go that extra mile for the Spaniard.
Benitez demands absolute professionalism from his players and Mina’s one who’s willing to put it all on the line for the team.
His presence immediately puts the opposition on the back foot and with Godfrey, he can form one of the best defensive pairings in the league.
