Aaron Ramsdale: Jordan Pickford joy to be around
Arsenal’s Aaron Ramsdale has waxed lyrical of England teammate and Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford.
The 23-year-old has been called up to Gareth Southgate’s Three Lions squad and has been impressed by Pickford’s attitude behind the scenes.
He has said that he hopes to emulate the Toffees shot-stopper and believes he’s a jolly character to have around the dressing room.

In an interview shared by the official England channel, Ramsdale said, “It’s a great learning curve. He’s someone who came into the team quite young and inexperienced and the summer he had at the World Cup cemented himself into the team.
“I think he’s going to be one of England’s best goalkeepers, given the success he has had with the football team.
“What a character he is as well. He’s a great guy to be around when you are in camp and is always making you smile. For someone who is not overly old, he is always happy to give you tips.”
Setting an example
There were plenty of eyebrows raised when Pickford was first named England’s number one goalkeeper.
His performances at club level had been far from impressive and many supporters too seemed to have lost faith in him.

However, he’s managed to take in all the criticism and come out of it on the other side as a better player.
Pickford now appears to be a more polished and composed custodian and we’re seeing players talking about his leadership which shows how much he’s matured.
We will not be surprised if, after Seamus Coleman, he is named the next club captain as he’s totally merited it.
The Englishman is still only 27, so there’s every chance of him getting better in the coming years and staking his claim as one of the best goalkeepers in the world.
