Everton react to claims about online racism

Everton have been left in dismay with claims from The Guardian that they aren’t interested about tackling online racism.

The Liverpool Echo report that the Toffees haven’t reacted well to the report as they have always had a strong relationship with the Merseyside Police.

They claim that only a small number of clubs have agreed to support a national police scheme; however, it seems as if the Toffees believe that this is simply a box-ticking exercise and are fully committed to tackling online racism.

Everton are right to be angry.

If you had just see that headline and the basic contents of the now-deleted story, then it would imply that the Toffees, as well as many other top-flight clubs, aren’t keen to help the police.

However, it seems as if that couldn’t be any further from the truth and the Toffees are fully committed to stopping and preventing online racism.

We can see why Everton are baffled at this report.

We also totally understand why they have their own schemes and plans because you could argue that the police, government, and social media companies haven’t done enough.

Therefore, we respect the Toffees for having their own schemes and also totally see why this report has annoyed them.

Hopefully, everything is sorted out because it is clear that the Toffees do a lot to tackle and prevent online racism.

The article has since been taken down, perhaps due to the complaints from various Premier League teams.
