Jamie Carragher blasts ‘ridiculous situation for Everton star Yerry Mina
Jamie Carragher was baffled by the situation surrounding Yerry Mina as Everton lost 1-0 to West Ham at Goodison Park on Sunday afternoon.
Sky Sports commentator Daniel Mann explained the situation, saying that while Mina was on the bench, he’d been on a red list country and had to keep his distance from other Everton players.
Mann added chortled at the idea that Mina was also probably in the dressing room with the rest of Rafa Benitez’s squad before the game, leading the Carragher saying on Sky Sports Premier League: “He obviously could come on and play.

“It’s just ridiculous, isn’t it?”
Ridiculous, indeed
How can someone be made to social distance but also be allowed to play in a contact sport?
We understand that the COVID situation is an ever-changing one and there are people out there who are way more clued up on this than most of us.
But how on earth can these countries be on a red list for your everyday person, but professional footballers are allowed to be named in a matchday squad and even play?
There have been reports that the number of Premier League footballers who’ve had the vaccination are low. We don’t know who has and who hasn’t.
People could be put at risk by this weird rule, that allows people to play a contact sport but not sit next to one another inside a football stadium.
Mina didn’t start for Everton on Sunday but he could have done. And that would be have been an absolutely ridiculous outcome to this unbelievable situation.
