We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has backed Everton forward Richarlison to replace Salomon Rondon against Watford on Saturday afternoon.

The Brazilian has finally returned to the fold this weekend after injury, with Rafa Benitez starting to welcome back much-needed recruits in the final third.

Campbell has hailed Rondon despite his lack of goals, insisting that not many players would feature in his position of having no fitness.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Possibly.

“I think Richarlison obviously offers more pace and directness at the top of the pitch. He’s more of a goal threat.

“Rondon has been searching for fitness, which is testimony to him that he’s even playing, many players if they’re not fit wouldn’t play.

No brainer.

There should be no questions asked today, Richarlison simply has to start.

We have seriously missed his aggressive attitude, pace, skill and finishing in the final third, with Rondon unfortunately not bringing any of that.

Especially if the Venezuelan international is still unfit, even he would admit that he needs a spell on the bench while building that up.

Benitez has finally been given a choice with his selection and options in the attacking third, and hopefully, that spells for a good afternoon.

There are no excuses here, we simply have to beat Watford.
