Kevin Campbell slams Everton and makes transfer suggestion
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has revealed his disappointment in Everton and their defending against Watford last week.
The former Toffees striker didn’t hold back in his assessment of the display and launched into a scathing review of the Toffees and their defence.
He also suggested that Rafael Benitez might need to invest some money into a centre-back.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, he said: “[They need] an organiser.
“Everton didn’t look in danger, but that’s where an organiser and a [leader] on the pitch makes sure you don’t concede.
“I am sure Rafa Benitez has had them [watching] videos of that game, and I am sure it is like a horror show because, I mean, some of the goals you can’t legislate for.”
Campbell wants to see a new centre-back.
Now, it is unclear what happened to Everton on Saturday, but defensively, they were awful and conceded some truly dreadful goals.
Michael Keane partnered Ben Godfrey in the centre of defence, and neither of them left a good impression [Liverpool Echo].
You could argue that the leader and organiser that the Toffees were missing is already in the squad but was just injured.
Yerry Mina has had a strong start to the campaign for the Toffees, and his absence on Saturday might just have made him Benitez’s best centre-back.

Surely, they will be able to defend better with him than without him, and given the Toffees’ financial concerns, we can’t see big money being splashed on a new centre-back.
Therefore, while we agree with Campbell about finding a leader and an organiser, he might just already be in the squad, which would save the Toffees a considerable amount of money in the short term.
