Kevin Campbell sheds insight into playing under Walter Smith
We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…
Kevin Campbell has revealed some insight into what it was like playing for Walter Smith at Everton.
The 73-year-old sadly passed away on Tuesday after a battle with illness, and Campbell revealed some nice little details on what Smith was like as a manager [Sky Sports].
Campbell joined the Toffees while Smith was the manager at Goodison Park and made 88 appearances for the Rangers legend.

“He was demanding, but he was a really good manager,” Campbell told Goodison News.
“He knew his football.
“He wanted to win; that was one thing we knew about him, he was a winner, and he wouldn’t accept anything less.
“You saw certain moments where we could challenge.
“You would give all your blood for him because he was that type of character.”
Lovely insight from Campbell.
It seems as if Smith was a fantastic manager to play under, and it appears as if he got the players to run through brick walls for him.
That is a huge thing in football, and there aren’t that many managers around who can get players to put their bodies on the line and make that sacrifice for the team.

The tributes have been flying in, and Campbell contributed his own, but this is a little bit different, and it shows us some more insight into how Smith was as a manager [Goodison News].
Now, he didn’t have that much success with the Toffees, but he helped the club through a difficult period of time and for that, he deserves a lot of respect.
We thank Campbell for talking about Smith so soon after his death, and we know that it was hard, but he has provided some fascinating insight here.
In other Everton news, the Toffees are looking to sign a forward who was rejected by Barcelona.
