Everton man Ben Godfrey still recovering from Covid

Everton star Ben Godfrey is believed to be still recovering from Covid, and that is why he has struggled so far this season.

The Liverpool Echo report that “there is a feeling” at Finch Farm that the 23-year-old is “overthinking” his game, and that is why he hasn’t played that well.

However, it seems as if Rafael Benitez still believes that he can build his new defence around Godfrey and the Spaniard still has a lot of faith in the centre-back.

Godfrey still struggling.

The 23-year-old was said to have been badly hit by Covid and discussed the topic not long ago [Everton’s official website].

He was also injured at the start of the season, so Godfrey has had a disrupted start to the campaign, which has clearly impacted his displays.

However, he proved last season just how good he could be, and it is good to hear that Benitez still believes in him and thinks that he can be an important part of the team.

The former Norwich City man has been capped by England and still has a massive future ahead of him.

Godfrey is versatile, but his future looks to be as a centre-back, and hopefully, after a shaky start, he can turn this around and push on.

This is an interesting insight into what is going on with Godfrey, and Evertonians just have to hope that he can improve and find his form from the last campaign.

In truth, it would be a surprise if he didn’t and doesn’t return to his best in the near future.
