Everton predicted to draw 0-0 with Wolves on Monday

Lewis Jones believes that Everton will manage to scrape a 0-0 draw with Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

Writing on his Sky Sports blog, Jones believes that Rafael Benitez would have torn into his players after the Watford game, and the statistics show that after a big defeat, the Spaniard always gets a reaction from his players.

The Toffees should be helped by a Wolves team who have only scored nine goals this season, so 0-0 might not be a bad prediction.

He said: “It must have been a long, hard week for the Everton players on the training pitch. You can imagine Rafa Benitez drilling them over and over again in defensive drills to get them absolutely organised for this game.

“The Everton boss will be demanding a clean sheet here after such a laughable defensive showing against Watford. He does usually get a reaction too.

“When you mix a defensively focused and motivated Everton with a Wolves team that are struggling to create chances, a low-scoring encounter is on the cards.”

Would you take a 0-0?

After that shambolic display last weekend, you would have to say that a 0-0 probably wouldn’t be a bad result for the Toffees as it would be a major improvement.

However, in the Premier League this season, Everton have only kept two clean sheets against Brighton & Hove Albion and Norwich City, so defensively, they haven’t actually been that good.

Despite this, though, we can’t see how they can be that bad defensively again for a long time.

You just can’t imagine that Benitez would allow it at all.

So a 0-0 wouldn’t be a bad result, but you would hope that the Toffees could snatch a win and keep up the chase for European football.

The Old Gold have hit a little bit of form with three wins and a draw in their last four matches, so they will be hoping to get a win, but the Toffees should have more than enough to secure an important result.
