Kevin Campbell: No one can escape blame after Everton loss v Watford

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that no one can escape blame this week after Everton crashed to an embarrassing defeat against Watford.

The Toffees led twice at Goodison Park but somehow shipped five goals on their way to that defeat with some shocking defending along the way.

Campbell believes that Everton are still doing well in the Premier League, but have to improve defensively down the line.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “You win as a team and you lose as a team.

“Manager included – at the end of the day, Everton are doing well, you bring on Richarlison, he gets a goal.

“There was some poor defending, but sometimes, it’s easy to put a finger on what happened, I just think, that’s the way in panned out – you defend poorly in the Premier League, you get hurt.”

Everton

Embarrassing.

Almost a week later, and we still can’t believe some of the defending that was on show at Goodison Park.

Campbell is right though, the Toffees have still started the season well as a whole and that has to be the message throughout the squad.

Rafa Benitez needs to show his man-management right now and going into the game at Wolves, something needs to change.

There are injuries, yes, but that isn’t an excuse for some of the things on show within this squad right now.

Hopefully, this can be put behind everyone and we can leave Molineux with a clean sheet and more importantly three points.

In other Everton news, this Toffees defender is being watched very close with a major exit on the cards
