Yerry Mina doubtful for Wolves clash

Everton defender Yerry Mina is unlikely to be available for Monday night’s clash against Wolves, according to The Liverpool Echo.

The Colombian played in six out of seven Premier League games for the Toffees until the recent international break, but has since not featured for them.

Despite playing in the World Cup qualifiers, he hasn’t represented his club side as there are understood to be some concerns about his hamstring.

Big blow

It seemed like he didn’t play against West Ham due to fatigue and the lack of training time, but the problem now seems to lie deeper.

What’s baffling is why was he even asked to play the entire 90 minutes for the three games in a row in the span of six days.

That kind of run can be brutal for anyone regardless of their age and Mina, who’s 27, isn’t one to shy away from a challenge.

He’s in great physical shape and an impressive trainer, but playing 270 minutes in a week is certainly going to take its toll on his body.

He even scored a goal on international duty against Ecuador, which was viewed as “unbelievable” by Kevin Keatings on Premier Sports, only for it to be disallowed.

Everton

Colombia made the most of him and Everton are the ones who are suffering from his overexertion which is not fair.

Michael Keane has been woeful this season while Ben Godfrey has also not started the campaign as many expected.

It looks like Benitez will have to rely on this defensive pairing for at least another game.
