Richarlison not considered 100% fit for latest Brazil squad
Everton attacker Richarlison has not been called up for Brazil’s latest squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers due to his fitness levels.
According to The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland, the 24-year-old is not included in the team due to a desire to carefully manage his journey to full fitness.
Brazil face Colombia and Argentina next month, but Richarlison will not play a part having only recently returned to action.
Boyland provided the information on his personal Twitter account on Friday afternoon.
He said: “Richarlison not named in latest Brazil squad.
“Hasn’t been dropped – he’s not considered 100 per cent, and there is a desire to manage his return to full fitness carefully.”
Good
Richarlison is possibly not happy with the development given the passion he has for playing for Brazil.
However, this is for his good as travelling to and fro South America during the next international break and featuring in the games could put his fitness at risk.
He only returned to action last weekend against Watford having been withdrawn during the 3-1 win over Burnley in mid-September.
The Brazilian missed five games and will now be looking to impress when Everton travel to the Midlands to face Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.
Richarlison marked his return to the pitch with a goal, and his place in the national team is not under any form of threat as long as he keeps impressing.
With two goals and an assist in five league appearances to his name in 2021-22, he has remained a key player for Rafa Benitez’s side.
Having featured at both the Copa America and Olympics in the summer, the Everton star deserves some rest from national duty, and the decision not to risk his fitness makes a lot of sense.
