Everton want to sign AS Monaco midfielder Aleksandr Golovin

Everton are reportedly keen on making a move for AS Monaco midfielder Aleksandr Golovin.

According to Russian media outlet Championat, the Toffees hold a serious interest in the 25-year-old midfielder.

The Russia international was in fine form last season, scoring five and assisting nine in 21 league games.

Good move?

The Russia international burst onto the scene at the 2018 World Cup in his home country and has performed well at the domestic stage since then.

Predominantly a midfielder, he is also capable of playing as a winger and has the ability to wreak havoc in opposition defences.

Goal Russia, during the 2018 World Cup, waxed his lyrical, comparing him to Barcelona and Spain legend Andres Iniesta.

They wrote, “He is reminiscent of Iniesta, such is the ease with which he beats his man before delivering a perfect through ball to put his teammate clean through on goal.”

He is also referred to as “sensational” by the Ligue 1 website and it’s clear that anyone who watches him regularly admires just how good a player he is.

Everton desperately need that Iniesta-esque midfielder who can link the defence to the attack and Golovin fits the bill perfectly.

At 25, he’s at the perfect age to make the move to the Premier League and Marcel Brands must look to bring him to Goodison Park.
