Kevin Campbell: Everton will be missing ‘huge’ Yerry Mina influence

We’re delighted to welcome former Everton striker Kevin Campbell as our exclusive columnist. Each week the former Toffees captain will be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Goodison Park…

Kevin Campbell has insisted that Everton will be missing the huge influence of Yerry Mina against Wolves on Monday.

The Colombian had been tipped to replace Michael Keane at Molineux, but Rafa Benitez has confirmed another injury blow to the South American.

Campbell was still stunned by the defence against Watford, claiming none of those goals should have been as easy as they were.

Speaking exclusively to Goodison News, Campbell said, “Obviously, you have Mina there, who at set-pieces is huge.

“At the end of the day, Keane is an England international. Those type of goals should not be happening, they are just driving through the heart of the team.

“So, obviously there would have been an opportunity for Mina to come back in, but you should not be conceding goals like that.”

Huge.

It is frustrating that after the big defeat against Watford, there are limited defensive changes available to Benitez.

The Colombian would have been the perfect introduction into the squad given his brilliant start to the season for the Toffees.

Keane has had just the opposite, and it takes more than one hand to count the number of mistakes he has already made leading to goals.

As an England international, whether past or present, it simply isn’t good enough and he can’t be allowed to keep his spot with no consequence.

It may stay the same against Wolves, but as soon as Mina returns, he will surely be welcomed back with open arms.
