Phil Thompson predicts Everton v Wolves scoreline

Phil Thompson admits he was left stunned by the capitulation of Everton against Watford at Goodison Park last month.

Everton’s last game saw them host the Hornets and blow a 2-1 lead to lose 5-2, with the Blues having to wait nine days to try and avenge that result.

They face Wolves at Molineux tonight, and ex-Liverpool defender Thompson suggests Venezuelan centre-forward Salomon Rondon could be in line to be dropped after his recent form.

He told Paddy Power: “Everton, my goodness what happened to them versus Watford? They capitulated in that last 10 minutes, going from 2-1 up to get beat 5-2! It was incredible.

“Salomon Rondon’s having a tough time, will he play?

“I’m going for the draw in this one. I think Everton will be hurting from that 5-2 drubbing by Watford. I’m going for a 1-1 scoreline.”

Richarlison to lead the line?

Rondon has drawn the ire of Everton supporters in recent weeks after some poor performances at centre-forward.

With Dominic Calvert-Lewin out injured the onus has fallen on the deadline-day signing to provide some presence and goals up top.

However, the 32-year-old has shown little to convince fans so far, and he is yet to score in six appearances.

Richarlison, meanwhile, has not made a start since September 13 due to an injury of his own, but he made his return to action against Watford and scored within three minutes of his introduction.

The Brazilian is surely set to start at Wolves on Monday night, but will it be instead of Rondon, or alongside him?

In other Everton news, this injured Blues ace is set for an extended absence after a behind-the-scenes order.
