Gary Neville pleased with Calvert-Lewin appearing on Monday Night Football

Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin appeared on Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football last night as a guest to discuss football and other matters.

The England international, 24, has been out of action since August due to injury, and he was in the studio alongside Jamie Carragher to watch Wolverhampton Wanderers hand his side a 2-1 defeat at the Molineux Stadium.

Sky Sports pundit Gary Neville was impressed to see Calvert-Lewin agree to come on the show, taking to his personal Twitter account to send a message to the Toffees star.

He said: “Well done to Calvert Lewin for going on Monday Night Football.

“Live TV, no script and for a current player to put themselves in that position takes some guts.

“He’s speaking well and really relaxed. (even though I’m sure he’s a bit nervous) . Looks the part too. Hope more do it.”

Thumbs up DCL

Agreeing to appear on Monday Night Football was a bold move on the part of the Everton ace, and he did not disappoint.

He had to watch Wolves inflict a third straight Premier League defeat on his side, but he still managed to keep his cool and present his unbiased views about both teams.

Calvert-Lewin impressed and will definitely not struggle if he opts to go into punditry when he hangs up his boots.

He felt at home in the studio just like he does in front of goal.

Benitez will be hoping to have him back as soon as possible after watching his side struggle in their last three performances.

DCL bagged three goals in the opening three games of the campaign before picking up a knock.

He has missed Everton’s last seven league games, and it is not surprising that they have managed to win just two of them, losing four.

Injuries to key players have seen Everton struggle, and the earlier Calvert-Lewin and others return, the better for Benitez and the Toffees.
