Mike Parry slams Dominic Calvert-Lewin over Wolves-Everton Sky Sports appearance

Mike Parry was furious with Dominic Calvert-Lewin’s appearance on Sky Sports last night as Everton lost 2-1 at Wolves.

Calvert-Lewin, 24, was a guest on Monday Night Football alongside Jamie Carragher, and the Everton centre-forward was in the studio to discuss a variety of matters, including dissecting his side’s dismal defeat.

Broadcaster and Everton fan Parry, however, was enraged by the injured England international’s outing on TV, as he shared on his personal Twitter profile before kick-off.

Everton

Parry wrote: “I am absolutely appalled that Calvert-Lewin…allegedly Everton centre-forward has spent the last 10 minutes on SkySports telling us all how inspired he is by Cristiano Ronaldo…what’s he doing in a TV studio…why isn’t he still in physio…how can Rafa Benitez allow this.”

Parry didn’t stop there, also adding a further tweet after the 2-1 defeat was confirmed.

He added: “I can’t be the only Evertonian who thinks it is absurd that our centre-forward and leading Everton scorer for the last 2 seasons Calvert-Lewin is standing there in the SkySports studio listening to Jamie Carragher tell Raul Jimenez how good he was in Wolves victory. I despair.”

Clutching

Parry will use any excuse to burst into one of his customary Twitter rants, because he can’t really believe what he’s saying, can he?

He can’t seriously expect Calvert-Lewin to be in the physio room late on Monday night, when he has in all likelihood spent a significant amount of time earlier in the day trying to aid the recovery of his injury.

Injured footballers need time away too, and it was refreshing to see a current player take to one of the most high-profile punditry stages and offer his insight.

Of course, there was some criticism that was attached to it as some viewers questioned whether it was ethically right to have a player discuss matters after his teammates had just been, to some extent, humiliated on the pitch.

Indeed, some have suggested it is pointless having current professionals on as there is generally a limit to what they feel they can say.

But nonetheless, it was a fascinating offering from Calvert-Lewin on Sky Sports last night.

Everton fans, though, will be desperate to see him back in action on the pitch as soon as possible after the Blues produced another turgid performance last night.
