Digne, Branthwaite and Simms return to Everton training ahead of Spurs

Everton have been handed a triple injury boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash with Tottenham Hotspur, and it is good news given their recent woes.

According to The Athletic journalist Patrick Boyland, Lucas Digne, Jarrad Branthwaite and Ellis Simms are all back in full training with the rest of the first-team.

Everton still have the trio of Yerry Mina, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Dominic Calvert-Lewin out, but having the aforementioned trio leave the treatment room is encouraging.

Boyland posted the information on his personal Twitter account on Thursday afternoon.

He said: “Lucas Digne, Jarrad Branthwaite and Ellis Simms back in full training ahead of Everton’s game with Tottenham on Sunday.”

Good news

Digne missed Monday’s 2-1 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers due to a muscle problem, but he has since been assessed and looks good to go for the Spurs clash.

The Toffees hugely missed the France international left-back against Wolves, with Ben Godfrey failing to impress in the position.

The versatile English defender was responsible as Everton shipped their second goal, with Raul Jimenez intercepting his intended back pass to Jordan Pickford and doubling the hosts’ lead.

Having Digne back is a great boost, and the absence of Mina could see Branthwaite get some action.

Mason Holgate did not impress against Wolves, and with Godfrey and Michael Keane not particularly on top form right now, handing the 19-year-old a chance would not be a bad idea.

With DCL out and Salomon Rondon struggling in front of goal, having Simms back could give Rafa Everton boss Benitez an option to call on in attack.

While the 20-year-old does not have a lot of experience, he could be a reliable cover as the Toffees look to prevent a fourth consecutive Premier League defeat.
