Yerry Mina training alone, to return after international break

Everton centre-back Yerry Mina is currently training alone in a bid to return to action after the break, according to El Bobble.

The Colombian international, 27, has missed the last three Premier League games, and the Toffees have lost them all.

Mina is out of Sunday’s clash with Tottenham Hotspur but he will be hoping to be available when they visit Manchester City after the international break.

Reliable Everton insider El Bobble – followed on Twitter by The Times journalist Paul Joyce – posted the update on their account on Thursday evening.

They said: “Everton’s Yerry Mina is training alone as his rehabilitation to fitness continues overseas.

“It is expected Mina will return after the international break.

“Andre Gomes returned to light training last week, the club have been managing Gomes’s return, to prevent a reoccurrence.”

Good news?

The Blues could do with Mina right now after shipping eight goals in his absence, but they have to wait for a while until they can have him.

While that is not great given the woeful forms of Michael Keane, Mason Holgate and Ben Godfrey, the good news is he has a couple of days available for him to get back to speed and make himself available for the trip to the Etihad Stadium.

Everton will be looking to avoid defeat against Spurs, and while that is possible without the Colombian, fans would not feel confident without him in the starting XI against Man City.

With Abdoulaye Doucoure also out injured, Gomes returning soon could be good news.

Everton need to deploy three players in the midfield with the Frenchman out, and the services of the Portuguese would come in very handy at the moment.

Benitez needs to start picking up points again, and having both Mina and Gomes back would be massive.
