Paul Merson predicts result of Everton clash v Spurs

Paul Merson has backed Everton to end their winless run in the Premier League against Spurs on Sunday afternoon.

The Toffees welcome Antonio Conte and his men to Goodison Park on the back of three games without a win.

Merson has predicted that it will finish 1-1, despite Rafa Benitez’ side looking “atrocious” at times against Wolves on Monday.

Writing in his Sportskeeda prediction column this week, Merson was desperate to see a reaction from the Toffees.

“This is a big game for both teams, and it’s quite hard to call,” he said. “Everton are all over the place at the moment, and I couldn’t believe what I was watching against Watford.

“They were atrocious in the first half against Wolves and are under a lot of pressure going into this game.

“Everton’s a hard place for a visiting team, and they did step up in the second half against Wolves. They can’t possibly be that bad for too long, and I see them holding Tottenham Hotspur to a draw in the Premier League this weekend.”

Everton

Atrocious?

We have definitely seen the best and the worst of the Toffees under Benitez this season at Goodison Park.

After a brilliant start with some big wins, embarrassing defeats against the likes of Watford have followed over the past month.

Despite that, the performances have not been worst than that first half at Molineux which was simply embarrassing and unacceptable.

If we start like this against Spurs this weekend, we can wave goodbye to the three points, lets hope that there is a reaction.

Goodison Park will be rocking, and let’s make it one to forget for Conte on his return to the Premier League.
