Rafael Benitez shares injury update on Everton man Lucas Digne

Rafael Benitez has confirmed that Lucas Digne is fit and ready to play for Everton against Tottenham on Sunday.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference, the Toffees manager confirmed that Everton would have their only first-team left-back available [Liverpool Echo].

The 28-year-old was badly missed on Monday against Wolves as his absence forced Ben Godfrey to play on the left, and he really struggled.

Big boost for the Toffees.

This is huge news for Everton, and it could be a sign that the club’s injury crisis is coming to an end, which would be good.

The Frenchman has played every league game when he has been fit and looks to be an important part of Benitez’s back four.

He has also been described as “sensational” by Andy Hinchcliffe in the past, so he is an important player to this Everton side [Sky Sports].

His return should also mean that Mason Holgate returns to the bench, which is probably where he belongs after his display on Monday night in which he was torn apart by the Old Gold.

Godfrey should move back into the centre, and you would hope that Digne can help improve the Toffees’ shaky defence, which was cut apart time and time again by Wolves on Monday.

Spurs will be a tough test under Antonio Conte, but it is good to see that Digne is back as the Toffees look to seal a much-needed win.
